I am utilizing virtual and augmented reality as an emerging learning technology for instructional delivery within my classroom. I recently taught a lesson on 9/11 and its significance. During the lesson, I read a book called Branches of Hope by Ann Magge to introduce the topic. After reading the book, we discussed why the tree is the surviving or last tree that provided hope for many. Then, we took a virtual tour of the 9/11 memorial, where students could see the North and South Pools of the 9/11 memorial and artifacts such as destroyed fire trucks. Witnessing the event's location and significance made the discussion more serious and understandable, and students asked many questions. Virtual and augmented reality is a technology that changes how we learn by providing first-hand immersive experiences regardless of students' locations and enhancing student engagement and understanding (ItourVista3D, 2024).

Gamification, a dynamic and interactive learning technology, is a cornerstone of my instructional delivery. As Davis (2023) explains, gamification involves integrating game elements like challenges, rewards, and competition into the learning process, fostering an engaging student environment. My students find gamification particularly meaningful; they eagerly participate in apps like Boddle Learning for math and English, Prodigy for math, and GetEpic for reading. These apps are not just tools but interactive platforms that enhance learning. Even during word work centers, the phonics skill becomes a board game, further enhancing their engagement.

As educators, we have the power to analyze and implement emerging learning technologies for instructional delivery. This proactive approach not only helps us gauge their effectiveness but also empowers us to stand out in various ways. By trying something new and determining whether it fits our needs, we can spark a different type of engagement from our audience of learners.
